It's my light The thing that keeps me going It lights up my world of darkness An outlet My heart telling me it will be ok My head saying it won't be My hand following my heart I would be a mess without it My thumb is stuck on the repeat Listening to the same song over and over Letting my heart take over the rest of my day My smile grows wider and wider throughout the day Although my headphones are out that song still flows through me Like water flows in a river

    I believe that self harm is an addiction and not a phase. Most uneducated parents and people in general assume that self harm is just a phase. Most uneducated parents and sometimes even the self harmers themselves assume that the self harmer will eventually grow out of it. Self harm is an addiction and a deadly one that is difficult to overcome without the support of friends and family. The reason I believe self harm is an addiction is because at one point in time I was an addict, I was addicted to what I thought was my only true friend.  I was addicted to self mutilation and it got to the point where I  couldn't go a day without self har
